Frequently asked questions

Can we book a private group?

No, CURIOS platform reservations are not private. Your experience may include a few other people.
For a private group reservation you must send an email to info@curios.place and we will send you a quote for the number of people in your group.

What happens if I am late for the experience?

As the experiences are not private, it is important to arrive on time. There is a grace period of 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, if others are waiting, the host will start the experience. If you are the only one and you arrive after the 15 minute grace period, the host may decide to shorten the experience in order to finish at the agreed time.

Are the times indicated local Peruvian times?

Yes, all times are local. All of Peru has one time zone: UTC−05:00.

What is the cancellation policy?

Each experience has its own cancellation policy, depending on the time needed in advance to prepare. It can be 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 96 hours or even 7 days before the start of the activity.

If you cancel before the host’s deadline, you will be refunded the full amount. No refund for cancellations after the host’s deadline.

If the cancellation happens more than 180 days after purchase but before the host’s deadline, transaction fees will be deducted. In this case, the customer will need to provide an account to which the refund may be sent.

Do I have to wait for the host's confirmation to secure my reservation?

No. After payment you will receive an email with instructions. For the few activities that do require the host’s confirmation, the payment will not be processed until we receive the OK from the host.

What if an unplanned event jeopardizes the experience?

The host can request cancellation if an unforeseen risk makes it unsafe or unfeasible. Risks include:
1. Adverse weather.
2. Strikes.
3. State of emergency restrictions in response to Covid-19 or other public health concerns.
In case of cancellation by the host, the traveler may modify his/her visit date (subject to availability) OR request a full refund OR accept a change to the experience as proposed by the host.

How do I get to the experiences?

The CURIOS website provides instructions (how to get there) and a map (showing the meeting point). You could take a taxi or public transportation. If you would like help with transport, send an email request to info@curios.place and we will provide the name and phone number of our preferred taxi driver.

Should I avoid experiences that are only offered in Spanish if I don’t speak Spanish?

That depends. Some experiences and skills can be clearly taught even with a language barrier. The struggle to communicate can be a fun part of the cultural experience. Other experiences involve more explanation and narrative so you would need to understand the host.

Are tips included?
