More about this activity...
What will you do?
We will start our journey at 8:00 a.m. from Cusco to the rural community of Huaylluta, a trip of approximately 130 km (3 hours). Along the way, we will stop at the Pochamanchi, Accopia, Asnacocha, and Pampamarca lagoons, where you can enjoy the scenery, take photos, and have a snack. As we approach the district of Túpac Amaru, we will share insights from the history of this 18th-century Peruvian revolutionary leader.
Upon arriving in Huaylluta, Genaro and his family will welcome us with a special greeting, accompanied by a song played on the harp. We will then learn about their journey into embroidery and how their collaboration with the brand Agustina has helped their workshop grow.
Genaro will guide us through each step of the pollera embroidery process, the traditional skirt of the Peruvian Andes, and you will have the chance to try this ancestral technique yourself. Afterward, we will visit their animals and share a home-cooked lunch with the family, with options such as cuy (guinea pig) or trout raised by them, or quinoa harvested in the area with potatoes and corn.
