More about this activity...

What will you do?

Lima is home to markets for all tastes. Using public transport (its own lively experience), we will visit three of the most bizarre, so join us if you dare! Stop One is La Cachina de Tacora, a famous second-hand market for everything from toys to original art works . Stop Two is La Parada, Lima’s colorful food pantry, where supplies arrive from all over the country. Finally, Gamarra, a gigantic commercial emporium, the heart of textile fashion and home to entrepreneurs.

Things to consider

At every point you will be with Alexander, a trustworthy local guide, as well as a security escort from the Youth Association, Nueva Juventud de Manzanilla. Because parts of the route are gritty, home to people struggling day-to-day, we don’t encourage this experience for children under 14. Dress simply and leave items behind that might attract unwanted attention.
