More about this activity...

What will you do?

We will meet at the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, in front of the Temple of the Society of Jesus. There I will explain the basics of Andean baroque art, a cultural movement that flourished between 1680 and 1780, manifested mainly in the architecture of its churches and built mostly by mestizo and indigenous artists. Then, we will go to the South Valley. In Canincuca, next to the Urcos lagoon, we will visit the 17th century Chapel of the Purified Virgin. Then we will explore the town of Huaro and its Temple of San Juan Bautista. We will also go to Andahuaylillas, where we will be amazed in front of the temple of San Pedro Apostle, known as the Sistine Chapel of America. We will have lunch with a typical menu of the South Valley and return to the center of Cusco to visit one of the largest altars in America, located in the temple of the Society of Jesus.
